Research

Our research team combines the expertise of collaborators across multiple labs and departments. Together, we are working to improve surgical treatment for movement disorders as well as tinnitus. We are actively involved in a variety of ongoing clinical trials, including the investigation of gene therapy for patients with Parkinson's disease, among other neurological disorders.

Tinnitus and Auditory Perception

We discovered that a specific area of the caudate (area LC) modulates auditory perception when stimulated, and recently completed the first-in-human phase I clinical trial to investigate the use of DBS in patients with tinnitus.
